When you've hunted for more than 50 years you have a few stories to tell. Some have a little drama, some will probably make you laugh, and some may even surprise you. But, don’t be expecting great adventures to exotic places. These stories (narratives) are simple real life memories from a lifetime of hunting.
Such stories of hunting and fishing are an outdoor tradition. Campfire tales are sometimes personal and are often shared among friends. They may begin as nonfiction personal narratives, but they do have a tendency to grow. After retelling for years such true stories may become more like fictional stories. I felt I’d better write mine down before I stretch them in my old age.
This book is in honor of all those who hunted before us, especially my Mom, Dad, and Granddad, but also to those who will carry on the tradition such as my wonderful grandson Zachary. I pray that he and many other youngsters may have hunting stories in their future.
